Letters to Lindy (August 2013):
These are the days. This has been a trying year but, you georgous made every day a pleasure. I HOPE I never forget how lovely you are. First, at almost 3 years old, you say the funniest things. My favorite is when you imitate my phrases. For example, we went to an Open House at the Children's Dance Foundation yesterday (you will start your first dance class this fall. I think you are going to love it. You already have an incredibly ability to twirl. Really impressive. Also, as you can see below, you love dress up and you love your fancy shoes. TuTu's and ballet slippers are right up your alley.) Anyway, back to the Open House. We are walking up and you proceed to tell your Dad and I that you are going to bounce in the bouncey house. Immediatley followed by a "that sound like a godo plan?" VERY CUTE. Amazing the things that you pick up. You are so smart. Another example, we were getting ice cream yesterday (see below, you LOVE your popsicles, they are your favorite, strawbery the most), and you saw a lady in the icecream shop with a bag like mine. You noticed it and made sure to point it out to us both. So impressive. At almost 3 years you are starting to recognize some letters. I know you recognize "R" and "O" and think you know "L" as well. One of your favorite movies at the moment is Sesame Street's Alphabet Jungle. Let's see what else you have done this summer . . . Lots and lots of swimming. You love your Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Bell Center. You are a mentor to a little boy named Owen and from what we hear from your teachers you are very good and kind to him. That has to be the part of you that I love the most (though its hard to choose!). You have such compassion in your heart. It hurts almost to see sometimes because I know your desire to please will lead you to do for others, and not enough for yourself. I hope no one ever breaks your sweet spirit little girl. You have also spent some time in Oxford with Elise, Dr Lee and Grayon. You are VERY sweet with little babies. I am hoping to get you to the beach and to Natchez for a weekend soon. It has been busy but looking at you every day reminds me of the need to slow down. Of course, you are spending lots of time at the river with LeLe and Big D. You love My Little Pony and your Barbies.
You have been such a light to me over the last few months. I love how we can communicate, I love that you look up to me. I hope I can be the mama you deserve, sweetheart. I am only human and I worry sometimes that I get lost along the way. I worry that I forget that my most important job. The ONLY job that matters is being your mom. Anyway, if the next 3 years fly by like these first 3, you'll be starting kindergarten before I can even blink. Thank you for being you, I love you.
