Lesson from Lindy: Roll with it

Well, on Saturday it finally happened! If you are anything like me, you fully subscribe to and believe in the idea that children should have structure and a daily schedule. However, if you are also like me you like to have fun, and you like for your kids to have fun. Well, we were having so much fun last weekend, for the first time in 2.5 years, Linden skipped her nap! Here's how it went down:

7 AM - 9 AM - ridiculously long walk through downtown Homewood and breakfast date at Sam's Super Sanwhiches

9 AM - 10:15 AM - mom frantically tries to get ready and kid runs around house like a lunatic

10:30 - 12:00 PM - Birthday party at the tot lot

12:00 - 4:00 - Have GREAT time at the Bell Center Corn Hole Tourney at Avondale Brewing Company

4:00 - 6:00 - Birthday party at a friends house.

Did you catch it??? We missed the 2:00 - 4:30 nap all together!! And here's the lesson part -- kiddo did great. She was lovely as usual, no meltdown. Just perfect. I guess if Lindy can break a 2.5 year habit in stride I can roll with the punches a little better myself. The point is, if you push yourself out of your comfort zone, of course there will be a bit of the unknown, but withthe unknown sometimes comes reward. [Read -- hours of chalk play and bubbles for baby, a great day with friends for mom].

Thanks, Lindy, for reminding me to let loose a little.

Also, thanks for this little gem:

Lindy on the toilet: Mom?
Me: Yes, babe?
Lindy: I love toliet paper. I love it.

*Lindy is now fully potty trained. (I would say as of a week ago). She is extremely attached to her "Cindirelli" underwear and has done just great.
