Letters to Lindy - May 2012

Lindy,

It has been a while. Probably because you keep me so busy, sweetheart! As I write this you are one year and ninteen months and it is hard to believe how grown up you are. You are first and foremost very sweet and thoughtful. You offer hugs and smiles on demand, with pleases and thank-yous right behind it. Your verbal skills are amazing! If I could I would list all the words you can say here, but that would take all day!

A few of your favorites: -Share - Barney - Mommy - Toys - "here is is" - "i don't know" - "no, no daddy" - "come on" - "fish" (you know every animals name, very impressive) You love to look around at your family and point out everyone's names -- including the dogs, Paige and Zoe. You still love books, as much as ever, and you love colors too, though you dont quite have them down pat. For a while everything was "green", now its all "brown". Oh, and you can count to five.

You still sleep like a dream and are a happy little girl. Thankfully you make mama and daddys life pretty easy, and wonderful. Today was your last day at Covenant Day School's mother's day out. I took a picture of you with your "class". Here you are sitting in Miss Jessica's lap with the rest of your class:

It is pretty safe to say you were her favorite. As bad as mom feels about leaving you every day to go to work (I am in my first year as a lawyer at Balch and Bingham doing L&E work- I love it!) I know you are in good hands. And you are SO well adjusted! You go to MDO three days a week, most afternoons Heather Lee watches you (you call her "He-Dah") and then to fill in the other spots there is Le-Le who definitely is one of your all time favorites. Here you are with LeLe at China Grove:

I have to say, you are very musical(not sure where that came from). You will stop what you are doing when you hear a song. You also love being outside, and swimming. You are pretty fearless and have now gotten to where you will go under without freaking out, you can hold your breath and everything. You wear a bow in your hair every day, and your hair is just beautiful. Perfect curls. I know I am pretty biased as your mom (the person who loves you the most in this world) but people stop us everywhere we go to talk to you and smile at you. Little girl, you bring a lot of joy to a lot of people. Here is another thing I love about you, I just thought of it, you are KIND. You have a compassionate side to you that I am not sure many babies your age have. Maybe you willl grow up to be a doctor, or a teacher, or a vet (you love your dogs). As far as toys go, you like about everything but really love nothing. If I had to pick I would rank 1)books @) baby dolls 3) other soft toys. In two weeks we are moving to our "forever" home. It makes me sad that we are leaving this little house, and allbut, the memories that come along with it. All the memories of watching you grow into the wonderful toddler you are now. But,I know we will make just as many good, new memories in the new house. Speaking of (and I have spoken of this before, and I think of it often) TIME JUST FLIES. Every day I watch you getting bigger and bigger, I get a little sad because one day you aren't going to love your mommy more than anyone else in this world, one day your face wont liht up when i enter a room, one day all you will want to do will not be to sit in my lap or have me pick you up. But right now you do. And, let me tell you, I savor every moment.

I hope that you grow up to feel loved, safe and happy. I hope I am not making the wrong decision to work and be a mom. I dont know. BUT I do know that if for one second I felt like you werent 100% OK, I wouldnt do it. Just that simple. I love you precious (when I say that now you always repeat -- "pe-shossh"). Anyway, better go now. We have a pretty big summer coming up. Lots of swimming and river time, your favorite. I am also going to sign you up for a music classm and reading at the library. Thank you for being my precious little girl. I adore you. Mommy
